This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Jordan Marr-Henry, one of our exceptional Surveying Team Leaders. From his journey into the industry to his leadership approach and aspirations for the future, Jordan is a key part of our team, helping shape the landscapes of tomorrow.
A Career with Purpose: Jordan’s Journey into Surveying For Jordan, surveying was the perfect combination of passion and purpose. “I was really sporty at the time, academically inclined (particularly in math), and I wanted a career where I could make a difference,” he explains. “Surveying presented a perfect opportunity to bring these elements together, giving me a skillset that could help my people back home.”

Leading from the Front: Career Highlights at CivilPlan

Jordan’s time at CivilPlan has been filled with proud moments, but two stand out the most. “Becoming a team leader was a huge milestone for me,” he says. “It’s a role that allows me to mentor others and guide projects with precision and care.” His second achievement?Earning his RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) pilot certificate—unlocking new possibilities in drone surveying and advanced data collection.

Problem-SolvingLike a Pro

When faced with challenges, Jordan applies a methodical approach inspired by on-site work. “I treat it like a worksite—take five, step back, and assess the problem,” he says. “If there’s a deliverable, I ask myself: do I have everything I need to get the job done?If not, how can I source the help required? Taking a step back often clears the way forward.”

The Future of Surveying: What’s Next?

For Jordan, the most exciting trend in surveying is the rise of AI. “We’re a tech-reliant industry, and AI is already showing immense potential—not just in surveying, but across construction as a whole. The possibilities are endless.”

Beyond theWorksite: Life Outside of CivilPlan

When he’s not out in the field, Jordan can be found competing in touch rugby or working on his golf swing. “I play a lot of touch rugby during the summer and have represented a few clubs and provinces over the years. More recently, I’ve taken up golf—it’s my next big challenge.”

DreamProjects: Thinking Big

If Jordan could work on any project in the world, he’d be heading to the Middle East. “I’d love to work on something likeSaudi Arabia’s NEOM or Dubai’s sustainable urban experiments,” he says. “These projects merge cutting-edge technology, cultural heritage, and eco-conscious design to redefine the future—it would be incredible to be part of that.”

WhyCivilPlan? A Perfect Fit

For Jordan, CivilPlan offers the perfect balance of innovation, collaboration, and meaningful work. “Working here means being part of a multidisciplinary team that’s collaborative and forward-thinking,”he says. “We’re not just completing projects—we’re shaping the future of communities.”
